YQR aims to engage young melanated Queens through a series of workshops & retreats focused on self-discovery, joy, faith, sisterhood, community, belonging, and expression. We also welcome opportunities to consult for organizations seeking to transform Black & Brown girls and young women-centered programming from inception through on-the-ground operations.
Newcomer Transition Support Group
Alo Alo: Nou La (Hello Hello: We are Here) is our first 6 workshop pilot series that recognizes the importance of cultivating a sense of community and belonging especially as a newcomer. These sessions will be conducted in Haitian Creole, and tailored to support young Haitian Queens ages 14-18 through their transition in the US. Topics of discussion will include exploration of self, nurturing wellbeing, and preserving heritage.
Afro Movement & Praise Dance (coming soon!)
This is a 6+ workshop series designed for young melanated Queens aged 5-7; 8-10 and 11-13, offering an immersive experience in celebrating cultural heritage and fostering spiritual connection through a blend of traditional African and contemporary praise dances. The objective of these sessions is to nurture confidence, creativity, and a profound connection to God through rhythmic movements.
Women of Color Centered Retreat
